Empowering Indonesia : An Introductory Webinar Hosted by CFC

19 March 2025, Amsterdam. A CFC Introductory Webinar was recently held in collaboration with the Embassy of Indonesia in The Hague on 19 March 2025.

The event brought together distinguished delegates, including representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade, and Ministry of Agriculture, as well as Mr. Fitrian, a member of the CFC’s Consultative Committee, and various private sector entities. The webinar provided an opportunity to discuss the CFC’s mission, support mechanisms, and opportunities for collaboration.

With commodity dependence being a major driver of poverty affecting over 3 billion smallholder farmers worldwide, the webinar aimed to highlight the role of sustainable commodity production and trade in economic development.

The session commenced with opening remarks by Mr. Ditya Agung Nurdianto, Director for Trade, Industry, Commodity, and Intellectual Property at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, followed by a video statement from H.E. Tri Tharyat, Director-General of Multilateral Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ambassador Sheikh Mohammed Belal, Managing Director of the CFC, then delivered welcome remarks, underscoring the CFC’s commitment to fostering economic growth and sustainable development.

The CFC Secretariat presented a General Introduction to the CFC, detailing its history, objectives, and operational approach. This was followed by an overview of the Open Call for Proposals process, which serves as the CFC’s primary mechanism for sourcing projects. A Q&A session facilitated further discussions on potential engagement. Currently, more than 65% of CFC’s operational projects are based in Africa, and the webinar sought to encourage greater participation from Indonesia and the broader region.

The webinar concluded with closing remarks by Mr. Ditya Agung Nurdianto, reiterating the importance of collaboration in advancing sustainable development through commodity-focused initiatives.
